Hey, I'm Mario!
Hi, I’m Mario
I’m an animator, teacher, and Bible “nerd”. As a young animator, I got the chance to start working with BibleProject localizing their videos into Spanish. Eight years in and I’ve been able to work in some of their English videos as well. I’ve also been a Bible teacher at a local highschool for almost ten years now. My passion for the Bible, teaching, and animation has turned into this project, a tool to help people see the Bible come to life and understand it in a new way.
I’m also a husband, father of (almost) two, son, brother, and active member of my local church here in Santo Domingo, DR. Basically I’m an average Christian that wants to put his talents to use for the Kingdom!

To bring Living Word to life, we’re using crowdfunding for two main reasons. First, we want the series to be available for free to everyone—without ads, sponsors, or investors. We want Living Word to be a community-driven project, where some of our collaborators will be members of our own community—you could be one of them! To bring this vision to life, we need more than just financial support; we need passionate and talented people who are willing to join our team and contribute their skills.
For each episode of the series, we require a variety of roles, including animators, illustrators, voice actors, and other digital artists. Since each episode is unique, the team needed for each one will vary, so we’ll need different people for each project. Some roles, like animators, community managers, or voice actors, will be recurring throughout the series, while others may be one-time opportunities that align with the specific needs of an individual episode.
In the future, we hope to build a dedicated core team that will work on some of the more common tasks throughout the production process. However, we believe there will always be opportunities for people to contribute and collaborate in different ways, whether it’s for a single episode or as part of a larger ongoing effort.

We believe that everyone should have access to the Bible and great resources to better understand and apply it, and what better way to make that happen than by making our series available for free on YouTube?
That’s why we’re asking for your help in spreading the word. Share our project with your church community, friends, and family. Share it on social media. Share it in every way you can. The more people who know about Living Word, the more we’ll be able to produce the series with greater quality, speed, and additional resources. And all the resources we create will be completely free for anyone who wants to use them.

Why does each episode cost $30,000 to produce?
Creating an animated Bible is a complex and costly process, from in-depth Bible study and scriptwriting to ensure theological accuracy, to all the cost of creating hand-drawn animation. We need to pay for voice acting, animating, compositing, editing, sound design, etc. But this cost doesn't only cover the production of the episodes themselves. There's a lot going on behind the curtains in an animation studio; things like software subscriptions, web hosting, social media and community management to name a few.
In summary every dollar contributes to making the first ever fully animated Bible in beautiful and engaging hand-drawn animation and all of our additional study resources.
How long will it take for the first episode to be released?
Short answer: It depends!
At our current speed, episode one will be ready anywhere from 4-6 more months. That's where you come in! As we get more supporters and can afford to have our team grow, episodes will be produced faster. Our goal for now is to speed up the process to 2-3 months per episode, and then be able to work in multiple episodes at a time!
Where can I watch the episodes once they are done?
Initially, our episodes will be released on our YouTube channel, so subscribe so you don't miss them! Soon after everyone will be able to find all our content here on our website. We also have plans to make a LivingWord app where the animated Bible and additional content will reside.
How will you animate abstract Bible passages?
We are commited to delivering a proper interpretation of all the Bible. This means we are taking Bible study, hermeneutics, and exegesis very seriously. The way we present every passage is going to depend on its literary style (narrative, poetry, or discourse), with this as our foundation we will then present a visual image that best fits the author's words and intention.
Our episodes will have additional study resources that will further explain our interpretative and graphic decisions, as well as the scholarly discussion on disputed issues.
